Red Onion versus White Onion from Pakistan
Export red onion is 60–80 mm. White onion is 50–70 mm and milder. Both are Sindh and Balochistan bulbs, cured 7–10 days, shipped at 0–4°C from November to March.
“Pakistan onion” is two bulbs. Kitchens that wanted mild dice and received a sharp red lot will say the shipper failed. The failure started when the order said only onion.
Red, the export workhorse
Red onion is sharp, deep in colour, and 60–80 mm. Buyers also know Sindh material under names such as Phulkara. Origin for the Zarkaar program is Sindh and Balochistan, sourced. It is not a Multan mango orchard with a different crop in the same sentence.
White, the milder bulb
White onion is 50–70 mm and milder, for dicing, salad, and restaurants. It uses the same origin belt and the same cold chain. It is not red onion in a paler bag. A demand for 80 mm white sits outside the published band. Ask before you write that size into a tender.
Shared rules
Both colours:
- Cure 7–10 days before the cold room
- Ship at 0–4°C
- Pack in 10, 20, or 25 kg mesh
- Fill a 40-foot high-cube reefer at about 25 metric tons
- Carry phytosanitary, Halal, and KCCI origin
- Skip mango hot water and skip the rice lab sheet
The shipping months are November through March. October is the forward book, not a mid-summer sailing. July is outside the window.
UAE and Qatar are the published Gulf programs. Saudi onion is ask-first, including for a buyer who already imports rice. Malaysia and Indonesia have their own lanes. There is no public price per bag on this site. The offer is indicative for 7 days.

What a rejected lot looks like
The export grade is a sound bulb: no sprouting, no soft rot. Red and white can share a reefer only when the proforma names both colours and both sizes. They still do not share that reefer with rice. Rice wants a dry box and a different temperature.
Saudi Arabia is ask-first for onion, including for a buyer who already takes Saudi rice. UAE and Qatar are the published Gulf programs. Malaysia and Indonesia stay on their own lanes. A 1 kg or 2 kg retail mesh exists when you ask. It is not the default 10, 20, or 25 kg bag. There is no public price per kilogram on this page.
