26 mm versus 28 mm Cotton Lint
Pakistan cotton lint from Zarkaar: 26 mm is the workhorse, 28 mm is the lot you must name, 30 mm is the ceiling. Ginned 170 kg bales, not phutti.

Mills ask for “Pakistani cotton” and then discover the bale was the wrong staple. Zarkaar sells two lint conversations, and they are not interchangeable. Both are ginned lint in 170 kg bales under heading 5201. A 40-foot high cube holds about 80 bales, about 13.6 metric tons. Neither one is seed cotton, and neither one is yarn.
26 mm, the workhorse
26 mm lint is the default mill bale. The countries named for that bale are Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Turkey, on one lane, because the staple is the same and the buyer changes. China is not on that lane.
October sits inside Punjab picking and ginning. The cotton window is the page for that timing. The offer is still a named staple. A message that says only “cotton price today” does not get a cents figure. Zarkaar does not print one.
28 mm, and the ceiling
28 mm is the longer lot. China means this program. The same staple can be offered to another mill only when the proforma says 28 mm. Nothing sold here is past 30 mm. The lot is not Pima and it is not Egyptian cotton. If a spinner needs those names, this is the wrong origin story.
Lint is not yarn, and not phutti
Combed yarn follows the count and a different customs family. The heading page separates 5201 from yarn. The UK and USA desks are where yarn is named. Do not write “raw cotton” on a yarn invoice.
Phutti, seed cotton from the trailer, is not bought on a public rate and is not the export unit. Cotton sowing seed at the Multan counter is a kharif bag for mid-April to mid-May. October is the wrong month to soak that seed. Khal, the cottonseed cake, is animal feed inside Pakistan, not an export container.
The bands on the lab sheet
The cotton page already publishes Pakistan Cotton Standards Institute-style bands for both staples: micronaire 3.8–4.8, strength 28–30 g/tex, trash under 2.5 percent. Those are ranges for the program. They are not a certificate that one bale hit a single point, and they are not a cents-per-pound price. Price still follows New York futures plus the Pakistan basis, quoted in the ginning season.
Yarn at 85 percent cotton or more is heading 5205, not 5201. The count still has to be named. A 26 mm story does not become a yarn invoice because the mill asked for “raw cotton.”
