Fertilizer for Rice, Then the Wheat That Follows
October is not a rice top-dress in Punjab. Zinc matters where khaira showed. The wheat sown after rice uses the published DAP and zinc schedule. No rice calculator and no fertiliser export.
Searchers type “best fertilizer for rice” in the same week Punjab is cutting paddy and preparing wheat. Those are two crops. Zarkaar will not pretend one bag count serves both, and this site has not published a rice-specific bags-per-acre table. Inventing one here would be a false schedule.
What this counter will say about rice
Basmati in Punjab shows khaira when zinc is short. The leaf goes pale between the veins and the plant stays small. Sona Zinc is its own bag. It is not a reason to double urea and hope.
Rice seed on this counter is a May–June nursery bag: Super Basmati, Basmati 515, PK 386, IRRI-6, or Kainat, tagged and one line only. Mixing Super Basmati with a coarse IRRI line in one nursery is how the mill cuts the price later. October is the wrong month to soak that seed. The kharif calendar holds the sowing order. The rice seed page holds the lines.
Phosphate and nitrogen for a rice crop belong at land preparation and early growth, not as a rescue spray in October on a field you are about to harvest. Bring the acres and say whether khaira showed. The counter will name the bag that is on the floor. It will not hand you a provincial bulletin copied onto a product page.
October work is the wheat after rice
If rice came off the field, the next fertiliser buy at Shesha Basti is usually wheat. The wheat guide is the schedule already published for that:
- 1 bag (50 kg) Sona DAP per acre at sowing
- Sona Zinc at 4–5 kg per acre when the previous crop was rice
- Prilled urea split at first irrigation and tillering
