Red onion,
60 to 80 millimetres.
The export workhorse. Sharp, deep colour. Cured 7–10 days. Reefer at 0–4°C.
Red onion is the export workhorse: sharp, deep colour, 60–80 mm. The bulbs come from Sindh and Balochistan. They are cured for 7–10 days and shipped at 0–4°C. Mesh bags are 10, 20, and 25 kg. One 40-foot reefer holds about 25 metric tons.
Gulf winter demand runs November to March into the UAE and Qatar. Malaysia and Indonesia take the same bulb under their own import rules. The Saudi desk does not list onion. This page does not move the orchard. Mango country is Multan. Onion country is not.
Papers
Phytosanitary, Halal, and KCCI origin. Onion does not use the rice lab sheet or the mango hot-water bath. PFVA standing covers fresh produce. We do not publish the membership number.
White is the other bulb
White onion is 50–70 mm and milder. Say red if you want this page. A buyer who says “onion” and means white will get the wrong flavour in the kitchen.
Red onion, specified for a tender
A tender that says only “onion” is not this spec. Write red, 60 to 80 mm, mesh weight, and the month. The shipping window buyers use for the Gulf is November through March. October is a forward book, not a summer sailing. UAE and Qatar are the published Gulf programs. Malaysia and Indonesia keep their own import rules. Saudi Arabia is ask-first.
A sound bulb means no sprouting and no soft rot. Red and white share a reefer only when both colours are named. They do not share it with rice. Hot water is a mango bath. The rice moisture sheet is not this cargo. A 1 kg or 2 kg retail mesh exists when you ask. The default export bag is 10, 20, or 25 kg. There is no public price per kilogram.
