Food-grade corn
is a named spec.
Milling, snack, and starch. It is tighter than feed grade. Sri Lanka’s published lane does not include it.
Food-grade yellow corn is the tighter lot for human use: milling, snack, and starch. It is not the feed-grade default of 13–14 percent moisture and 3 percent broken. If you need food grade, write those words. A feed quote will not be upgraded in the container.
Origin is still central Punjab, sourced. The lab sheet has to match the food contract you send. Sri Lanka’s published offer is feed only. Gulf mills can ask for food grade by name. Bulk, if the grade and the buyer support it, still starts at 5,000 metric tons.
How it differs from feed
Feed has published moisture and broken limits because that is the workhorse. Food grade takes the buyer’s tighter ceiling and writes it on the proforma. We do not invent a single global food-grade number the lab has not been asked to hold.
Pack and papers
Fumigation, phyto, and the lab sheet apply. Halal applies when the destination is a Gulf food buyer. A container is about 27 metric tons. Seed maize remains a domestic product.
What to put on a food-grade enquiry
Say milling, snack, or starch. Send the moisture ceiling and the broken-grain ceiling your plant will accept. Feed grade already publishes 13 to 14 percent moisture and 3 percent broken. Food grade does not borrow a larger-kernel claim, and it does not borrow a parts-per-billion figure this site has not printed.
The lot is still central Punjab corn, sourced. A container is about 27 metric tons. Bulk still starts near 5,000 metric tons when the grade and the buyer support it. If the message only says “corn price,” the answer stays feed grade until you rename it. October drying on a Punjab farm is not this export spec.
